CRR Program for Partnership

Prior to 2021, we began partnering with schools and district leaders to builded a shared visions for computer science and STEM education. Here are some products that resulted from the early partnership work.

Culturally Relevant Robotics & STEAM Lessons

A full set of lesson plans that can be used to connect STEAM and literacy. The activities were originally designed for and used at a preschool with 3- and 4-year-olds, but the activities could easily be adapted for elementary students. The activities are based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears by John Kurtz. The four activities integrate different areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in the context of the Goldilocks story.

Culturally Relevant Robotics Lessons

Several lesson plans developed by prospective teachers for implementation at informal family STEM events. The activities were originally designed for students across a range of ages and STEM backgrounds, but the activities could easily be adapted for various classroom contexts. Prospective teachers designed the lessons based on what they learned about the community resources and experiences near children’s schools.

STEAM + Three Little Pigs

A full set of lesson plans that can be used to connect STEAM and literacy. The activities were originally designed by prospective teachers and used at a preschool with 3- and 4-year-olds, but the activities could easily be adapted for elementary students. The activities are based on The Three Little Pigs. Each of the five activities emphasizes one of the different areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in the context of the Three Little Pigs story.
